Close an account to cancel its subscription today, bill what it owes, and delete its workspaces after a grace period; any Owner can cancel the closing until then.
Who this is for
The Owners of the account. Billing members cannot close it, and keep reading its invoices after it closes.
Before you start
Export anything you need from the account's workspaces, or move a workspace you want to keep to another account. Closing ends the plan for every workspace in the account.
Steps
Open General in the account's settings.
Under Close this account, read what closing does, then select Close account.
Confirm it is you, if you have not in the last 15 minutes: Confirm your password, or Email me a code and enter the Code from the email.
Type the account's name into Account name and select Close account.
What happens next
For an account with a subscription, closing:
cancels the subscription today, with no refund of the time left;
bills the usage beyond the plan so far on a final invoice;
makes every workspace read-only today, and deletes them 30 days later;
keeps the invoices available to the Owners and Billing members.
The page then reads Closing on {day}, {zone}, the day closing finishes and the timezone that day is written in, and "Any Owner can cancel closing until the workspaces are deleted." While the subscription is cancelled and the final bill is issued, it reads "Cancelling the subscription and issuing the final bill. This is usually done within 15 minutes."
An account that holds no workspaces and has never been billed closes at once.
Cancelling the closing. Select Cancel closing on General. What it restores depends on when you cancel:
Before the subscription is cancelled, it is a full undo: the account stays on its plan, and its workspaces are no longer scheduled for deletion.
After the subscription is cancelled, the account stays open on Free. The cancelled subscription cannot be restored, the time left on it is not refunded, and a launch price it had does not come back. Free includes one workspace, so any others become read-only and are deleted unless someone subscribes again.
After it closes, the account's settings show "This account is closed. Invoices stay available here until {date}.": its Owners and Billing members can read and download its invoices for 7 years.
If it doesn't work
"Type {account} exactly as it is written to close it.": the name must match exactly, including upper and lower case.
"{account} is already closing."
"{account}'s subscription is being cancelled and its final bill issued. You can cancel closing when that is done, usually within 15 minutes.": wait, then select Cancel closing again.
"{account} is closed. Its invoices stay available; start a new account to translate again."
