Move a workspace to another account

Move a workspace, with its projects and people, to another account you own, so that account's plan covers it and its invoices pay for it.

Move a workspace, with its projects and people, to another account you own, so that account's plan covers it and its invoices pay for it.

Who this is for

An Owner of both accounts. "You can move a workspace only between two accounts you own." To move a workspace to an account you do not own, ask an Owner of that account to make you an Owner of it; you can then move the workspace, and they can remove you afterwards.

Steps

  1. Open Workspaces in the settings of the account that holds the workspace.

  2. On the workspace's row, select Move.

  3. Under Destination, choose the account to move it to, or New account. Only accounts you own are listed.

  4. Read What changes. It shows the plan the workspace runs on after the move, whether the seats, projects and languages it brings fit the destination's plan, and any features it uses that the destination's plan does not include.

  5. Under Tick each change to confirm it, tick each change. Review Credentials in {workspace}: ticked credentials are revoked when the workspace moves, and the ones whose creator loses access start ticked.

  6. Select Move workspace, type the workspace's name, and select Move to {account}.

What happens next

The workspace belongs to the destination account from then on, and runs on its plan.

  • Words already used this cycle stay on the source account's usage. From the move on, the destination pays.

  • Invoices already issued stay with the source account.

  • A read-only workspace becomes active.

  • Features the destination's plan does not include stop working in the workspace once it moves. Single sign-on enforcement for its domain stops, and the destination's Owners verify the domain again.

If it doesn't work

  • "{account} has an unpaid invoice of {amount} from {date}. Pay it before moving workspaces out."

  • "{account} is settling its final bill. Move workspaces out after it is issued, usually within 15 minutes."

  • "{workspace} is scheduled for deletion. Cancel the deletion first."

  • "The open source plan covers {workspace} only." and "Moving {workspace} ends {account}'s open source plan. Ask support to move the grant."

  • "{workspace} is on hold by Transglot and cannot be moved.": contact support.

  • "Type {workspace} exactly as it is written to move it."

  • "Confirm each change listed for {workspace} before moving it.": tick every change, then move it again.

  • "You tried several moves in a minute. Wait a minute, then try again."
