The editor

The editor is where translation actually happens: one target language at a time, every key in a grid, and a context panel that tells you everything known about the string you are on.

The editor is where translation actually happens: one target language at a time, every key in a grid, and a context panel that tells you everything known about the string you are on.

Who this is for

Everyone who can open the project. What you can do in it depends on your role: translators can edit translations, developers and above can run AI translation and add keys, admins and above can approve.

What happens next

Across the top: a Target language picker, then the actions you are allowed. ✦ Translate missing fills every untranslated string in the current language with AI; while it runs the button reads Translating…. Run QA starts a quality check, reading Checking quality… while it works. The key count sits on the right, and New key adds one by hand.

The grid below has one row per key: the key name, the source text, the translation, and a State: AI translated, Human edited or Reviewed. Search keys and text… narrows the list as you type. Select rows with their checkboxes to act on several at once.

The context panel on the right is the part worth learning. For the selected string it shows, when relevant: Length against a maximum, matching Glossary terms with their required translations, Translation memory hits, a Similar reviewed translation, an AI suggest, Quality findings, a Review section with Approve and Flag, and History: every previous version, who wrote it and what state it was in. Press [ to collapse or reopen the panel.

If it doesn't work

  • If the language picker is empty, the project has no target languages yet.

  • If ✦ Translate missing and Run QA are missing, you do not have permission to translate in this project.

  • "No history yet." in the context panel means the string has never been changed.
