Create the project that will hold your source strings, your languages, and every translation of them.
Who this is for
Owners and admins. Developers and translators can open projects but cannot create them.
Steps
Open your workspace overview.
Select New project.
Enter a Name.
Enter the Source language (BCP-47): the language your strings are written in today, for example
en,fr-CAorzh-Hans.Optionally fill in Description (context for AI translation). This is not decoration: it is given to the model as context, so a line like "E-commerce checkout app for..." measurably improves the translations you get back.
Submit the form.
What happens next
The project is created and you land on it. Its Get started page walks you through the rest: adding a target language, pushing your source strings, and running your first AI translation.
The source language is the one language you do not translate into. Everything else is a target.
If it doesn't work
"Unknown locale: use a BCP-47 tag like en, fr-CA, or zh-Hans.": the source language is not a recognised tag. Use the language code, optionally with a region or script.
If New project is not offered, you are not an admin of this workspace or an Owner of its account.
