Let translation continue past your account's included words, with a spend cap that stops it.
Who this is for
The Owners and Billing members of the account.
Before you start
Decide the cap first. Translation stops at it, so pick an amount you are prepared to pay in full each cycle.
Steps
Open Usage for your account.
Find Usage-based overage.
Turn on Usage beyond the plan. The switch saves as you change it.
Enter a Spend cap a cycle, in USD.
Choose Save cap.
What happens next
Once the included words are used, translation carries on in every workspace of the account and each word beyond the plan is charged, until the cap is reached. At the cap the page reads "The {cap} spend cap is reached, so translation beyond the included words is paused in every workspace until {reset} or until you raise it."
While the account is new, the card may show the cap released in stages: part of it now, and the full cap once earlier usage charges are paid.
Turning the switch off returns the account to stopping at its included words.
If it doesn't work
"Turn on usage beyond the plan before you set a spend cap.": the cap field opens once the switch is on.
"Usage beyond the plan is on, but no spend cap is set, so translation still stops at the included words. Set a cap below."
"{plan} does not sell words beyond the plan. A paid plan does.": Free and the open source plan stop at their words.
"Words beyond the trial are not sold.": during a trial, usage beyond the plan starts with the first paid cycle.
"Add a card in the payment portal first, so usage beyond the plan can be collected." and "The card on file has expired. Update it in the payment portal first."
"Usage beyond the plan is billed in USD, and {account} pays in another currency. Contact support to change it."
"Usage beyond the plan is paused until the bill for {cycle} is settled.": an earlier cycle's usage bill has not been paid yet.
"Card payments are not switched on yet, so usage beyond the plan cannot be turned on."
