Assign a language to a translator

Give one or more languages to a translator, which both tracks the work and grants them access to exactly those languages.

Who this is for

Owners and admins.

Steps

  1. Open the project's Assignments.

  2. Under Assign to translator, pick someone from Translator: the control reads Choose a translator.

  3. Optionally set a Due date (optional).

  4. Tick the Languages to assign.

  5. Optionally write a Brief (optional): "Tone, deadlines, anything the translator should know."

  6. Select Assign to translator.

What happens next

The assignment appears on the board as Assigned, and the translator is notified.

Assigning is also a grant: it gives them exactly those languages and nothing more. That is the mechanism behind vendor scoping: a scoped translator can open the project but can only write in the locales they hold.

If it doesn't work

  • Assign to translator stays disabled until you have chosen a person and at least one language.

  • If the Assign to translator form is not shown at all, you do not have permission to assign work in this project.
