Start the countdown that permanently removes a workspace and everything in it.
Who this is for
The Owners of the account that holds the workspace. No workspace role can delete it, Admin included: it ends the workspace for everyone in it.
Before you start
Export anything you need. Once the countdown elapses the workspace and every project, translation, usage record and audit entry in it are removed permanently.
To keep the workspace and have another account pay for it, move it to that account instead.
Deleting a workspace does not stop its account's plan. When it is the account's last workspace and the account pays for a plan, the card says so before you confirm: the account keeps its plan and keeps billing with no workspaces. Close the account from its settings to stop billing.
Steps
Open Settings, then General.
Find Delete this workspace and select Delete workspace.
Type the workspace name into the Workspace name confirmation box.
Select Delete workspace.
What happens next
A countdown starts, and the workspace becomes read-only immediately: every member can still see everything, and nobody can change anything. A banner tells everyone what is happening, because they are losing the workspace too.
Any Owner of the account can select Cancel deletion on that banner until the countdown elapses. After that, it is gone.
If it doesn't work
The confirmation must match the workspace name exactly.
If Delete this workspace is not shown, you are not an Owner of the account that holds this workspace. When nothing on the page is yours to change, it says: "Nothing here is yours to change. An admin can rename this workspace and connect Slack, and only an Owner of its account can delete it."
During the countdown every write is refused. That is the read-only state, not a fault.
