Translation memory

Translation memory is what stops you paying twice for the same sentence, and what lets a reviewer reuse a phrasing the team already agreed on.

Who this is for

Everyone. Turning it on or off is a project setting, and needs admin.

What happens next

There are two kinds, and the difference matters.

Exact matches. When the exact same source text has been translated before, transglot reuses that translation at no cost instead of translating it again. This is automatic and is what the Reused at $0 figure on your dashboard counts.

Exact-match reuse draws on an anonymised, shared pool as well as your own workspace's history. You can turn that off per project, in which case only your own workspace's translations are reused.

Similar matches. transglot also finds previously reviewed translations of similar text and offers them as suggestions. In the editor these appear in the context panel as Similar reviewed translation. A similar match is only ever a suggestion: it is never written to your project automatically. It is also used to ground the AI, so a new translation comes out phrased consistently with the ones you have already approved.
