Install the transglot GitHub App so pushing to your default branch extracts strings, translates them, and opens a pull request with the results.

Who this is for

Owners and admins, on the Team plan or above. You also need permission to install an app on the GitHub organization.

Before you start

Know which repository holds your localization files, where they live in it, and what format they are in.

Steps

  1. Open Integrations, then the GitHub App card.

  2. Select Install on GitHub and grant the App access to the repositories you want.

  3. Back in transglot, pick a granted repository.

  4. Choose the Project it should feed.

  5. Set the source path: the pattern where your files live, for example locales/{locale}.json.

  6. Choose the Format.

  7. Set the source locale and the target locales, for example fr, de, es.

  8. Save the link.

What happens next

The page's How it works describes the loop, and it is worth reading before you rely on it:

  1. You push to your repository's default branch.

  2. transglot extracts the changed source strings into your project. They become ordinary keys, hitting translation memory, glossary and QA like any other content.

  3. New strings are translated by the usual auto-translate pipeline.

  4. transglot opens a pull request on its own sync branch with the translated files, for your team to review and merge.

The direction is one way: repository → project → pull request. The App authenticates as itself, so you never handle a deploy token, and transglot only ever writes its own sync branch, never yours.

Cost: the App itself is free on the Team plan. Translating new strings uses your project's word allowance, and only when auto-translate is on.

Linked repositories are listed with their project and their last run.

If it doesn't work

  • If the card says the App is not configured, this deployment of transglot has no GitHub App set up. That is an operator setting, not something you can fix.

  • "No repositories granted" in the repository picker means the App was installed without access to any repository. Adjust the installation on GitHub.

  • If your plan is below Team, the card offers Upgrade plan instead of the install button.
